HIRE Act Enacted
Congress has passed and the President has signed the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act. The law provides a payroll tax incentive for nonprofit employers, so they can hire new workers and serve a growing number of Americans in need.
IS and its members advocated successfully for the application of the new employer payroll tax incentive to encourage both nonprofit and for-profit employers to spur the hiring of new workers.
What's Next?
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is already beginning the implementation process of this legislation, issuing guidance and working to determine the cost and scope of government regulations. The law took effect February 3, 2010.
